Many people are registering as voters ahead of harmonised elections expected to have been held by June 29.Mr Mudede said in a statement that all citizens of Zimbabwe who are 18 years and above were eligible to register as voters.
“This refers to persons born in Zimbabwe where both parents are citizens of Zimbabwe by birth or persons born in Zimbabwe where either parent is a citizen of Zimbabwe by birth, some of whom are holding aliens’ identity documents,” the registrar general said.
Mr Mudede said those intending to register should have the required documents.
“Documents required for one to register as a voter are full original birth certificate for persons born in Zimbabwe together with national identity document (metal, polythene-synthetic or legible green waiting pass with holder’s photograph) or a valid Zimbabwean passport and proof of residence,” he said.
Mr Mudede said after registration, people with green waiting passes would be required to visit district registry offices to obtain polythene-synthetic identity documents.
Zanu-PF is already mobilising supporters and new members to register as voters ahead of harmonised elections.
The mass mobilisation exercise is being carried out countrywide.
