WHEN Peter Muduhwa attended his brotheras wedding last Sunday, he was the best man thanks to a correspondence dated 29 August from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League confirming his suspension.
Peter had accumulated three yellow cards and that blocked him from starting for Highlanders against Chapungu on the same day as his brotheras wedding.
The question that begs to be answered is a difficult one for any Highlanders fan: did Muduhwa intentionally pick up the third yellow card when his team lost 3-0 to Ngezi Platinum Stars on 26 August and earn a suspension a?to make himself availablea? for the wedding?
However, Muduhwa himself disputed this coincidence and explained how he came to be the best man.
a?According to the initial arrangements of the wedding my younger brother Mduduzi (18) was set to be the best man.
After the family found out that I was suspended for the Chapungu match, it was decided that I replace him,a? said Muduhwa.
According to sources present at the wedding reception, the centre back kept track of proceedings at Hartsfield Ground and was overheard rooting for Bosso to pick up three points. Unfortunately, it was not to be as the grossly out of form Highlanders lost 0-1 to visiting Chapungu.
And to add salt to injury for Bosso, the man who stood in for Muduhwa at centre back, Benson Phiri and his makeshift partners, Tendai Ndlovu who was substituted for Tendai Ngulube seemed culpable for Chapunguas solitary stoppage time strike.
Muduhwa, who was a 2016 Soccer Star of the Year finalist following a fine season in the heart of Bossoas defence, picked his first yellow card of the season on 25 June when Bosso took on city rivals How Mine.
The playeras second caution came on 27 July in another derby tie that Erol Akbayas men played against Bulawayo City. .
