With medial legs Tinashe has been unable to walk unaided and could not do anything to help himself. His father Mr Godfrey Karonga said; “Tinashe was a normal child until his fifth grade and has never been better. We can’t sleep once he wakes up as he makes noise with his teeth.
“We have been taking him to Harare Central Hospital, Children’s Rehabilitation Unit where they advised us that his condition is untreatable. They have, however, been training us on how to care of him and they last saw him in January 2013.”
He said it was difficult for him as a parent to watch his child in that state. He added that they had approached Ceragem, physiotherapy specialists who had advised them to buy a V3 machine. Mr Karonga said he was advised that the machine would work on Tinashe’s veins which might improve the situation.
“Our biggest challenge is how to get the money to buy the machine. The machine costs US$1 300 and operates on electricity but since we reside in the rural areas we also appeal for a solar panel and battery.”
Other than his impaired growth, Mr Karonga said it was also becoming difficult to carry his son whenever there was a need to do so as he did not have a wheelchair.
