THREE men from Mudzi have appeared in court on allegations of attempting to peg a mine using forged documents.
Moses Maja (45), Wiriranai Chitimbo (42) and Zvinairo Ngwereva were facing fraud charges when they appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Ruth Moyo.
The complainant in this case is Peter Admire Kaitano (28). It is the State’s case that sometime in December 2025, the complainant gave one Allan Mbabvu authority to do mining activities on his land in the Makaha area in Mudzi.
The court heard that Maja and Chitombo approached the complainant to enter into a mining partnership since Maja had an ore processing plant and the complainant sold the idea to his brother Pedzisai and his nephew Fadzi, who supported the idea.
On December 22 2025, the parties entered into the partnership agreement that was signed by all the parties.
The complainant, upon requesting a copy of the agreement, was advised that a lawyer had gone to Harare to commission it and he would only get a copy after it had been commissioned.
In April 2026, the complainant was surprised to see a copy of the consent to peg form with his signature consenting to the pegging of his land by Ngwereva whom he had never entered into an agreement with and had never met before.
Harare lawyer Mr Courage Chakawa of Chakawa Vhera & Mswelanto Legal Practice stood in as watching brief for the complainant.
