Mufaro Wevatendi, Mhere take music scene by storm

Led by Frank Chireve, the group has been receiving rave reviews especially on National FM, where some of the tracks taken off the album like “Mufaro”, “Canaan”, “Shumeri” and “Jesu Chete” are hits among listen­ers.
Although this is their first release, it is evident that they have put in a lot of effort to come up with a polished proj­ect that appeals to people of all ages and denominations. The producers at Musica House where the album was recorded, should also be commended for a job well done since the album is engrossing just as it is laden with spir­itual mes­sages that will uplift people’s moods this Christmas holiday.

The title track, “Hatisi Venyika Ino”, reminds people that we are transient on this earth and hence the need for us to repent and thus prepare for our places in Heaven. It is a touching song that can leave a tear or two on the cheeks of the most sentimental lis­tener.
“Canaan” derives its title from the biblical story of the land of Canaan, which is described as the land of milk and honey which can only be accessed by those who fear and respect God.

The song “Ngatimutende” is self-explanatory and it urges people to praise God for the blessings that we have in life, while “Mufaro” takes this message further in reminding people that all this happiness that we have was acquired from God’s grace.
“Muzita Rashe” is a rather laid-back gem that talks about how peo­ple need to always abide the name of the Lord in everything they do.

“Shumeri”, “Jesu Chete” and “Ndin­gagofara Sei?” make up the rest of the playlist. The 10-member outfit say the release of the album was made possible through the likes Mr and Mrs Chireve, Jacob Nyamadzawo and Webster Chi­manga.
Mathias Mhere — Anoita Minana

His music has been rocking the kom­bis, watering holes and many house­holds ever since it hit the streets early this month. And people have been mis­taking it as the product of popular Mutare gospel musician Blessing Shumba in terms of similarity in voice, vocal and sound arrangement. His name is none other than young gospel musician Mathias Mhere, whose album “Anoita Minana” is receiving massive airplay.

The opening track on the album is “Vimba NaJehovha”, a powerful song about the deceptive nature of humankind. In it, the artiste urges peo­ple to invest their trust in God alone. “Usavimbwe nemunhu mukoma, munhu anokurasisa/Judas wandaidya naye, ndiye wazondirasisa,” he sings in the song. “Chipostora” urges people to seek wisdom from their forebearers as well as from the wise words of the earli­est apostoles and prophets.

“Munongotichengeta” praises the Lord for guarding over His people in both trying and good times.
“Favour” is about how opportunities, chances and favours come not from fel­low human beings but from God. “Favour haitengwe nemari/Favour inouya naMwari,” he sings.

Then to those who have been won­dering what the true meaning of the word Ark means, then the track “Areka” explains it for you.
“Vaporofita Venhema”, “Zuva Rinobuda” and “Akatichengeta” make up the rest of the playlist.

Born on June 13, 1988 in Gutu, Mhere said he was inspired by the music of Baba Mechanic Manyeruke and started singing in Grade 3 at ST Mary’s Primary School in Gutu.

This is his second album after his 2007 effort, “Tinoda Nyasha”.
