Mujuru wins Mr Novice

Mujuru takes over the crown from Nunurai Masosonere of Warren Park who won the event last year.

The Mr and Ms Novice was the first competition of the year under the wings of the National Federation of Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association and is only openly to athletes who have never competed in any event before.

Mujuru could be destined for better fortunes in future if he keeps on working hard and manages to build on his good balance.
Overally, he exhibited an impressive calf and chest.

He is an almost complete bodybuilder but still needs to improve on a his posing routines if he is to challenge for more prestigious competitions like the Mr Harare and the Mr Iron Man.

Tonic Chiwaya of Dzivaresekwa Gym put up a brave performance, with well choreographed poses, to finish as the first runner-up.
Luckmore Maganga of Morris Depot was third while Blessing Saunyama from Mutare fourth.
Trust Matizanadzo of Pro-Fitness was fifth in his first show.

Before the event, Matizanadzo had said that he was not putting himself under pressure to win the title but was eager to get exposure.
In the juniors (Under-21), Endurance Chipere from Les Brown was crowned the champion with Prince Hove coming second.

One of the judges at the event, Quiet Shangai, said while they were fewer entrants compared to last year, he was impressed with the quality of the athletes.
“I think that the quality of the athletes was better than last year and I believe the winner has a great future if he keeps working hard,” said Shangai.

The wheelchair category was scrapped as the organisers felt that athletes in the section have not fully developed.
Harare Bodybuilding and Fitness Association president, Keith Chirimhanzi, said they will now be moving around to revive district structures.

“In some areas there are administrative structures but we also need to revive in other areas so that we have competitions like the Mr Mufakose, Highfield and DZ,” said Chirimhanzi.
