STRIKER Tendai Mukambi struck a late brace, including a goal with virtually the last kick of the game, as Chicken Inn rose from the dead to grab an unlikely point in their Castle Lager Premiership tie against FC Platinum.
For the third straight game, involving the Zvishavane side, the last kick of the game produced a goal. Last weekend, Lloyd Mutasa watched in horror as Hwange striker Alec Marime scored a last-gasp dramatic winner to give his side, who had trailed 0-2 at the break, a 3-2 win at Mandava.
Then Mutasa celebrated on Good Friday at the National Sports Stadium as a last-minute penalty, converted by Qadr Amini, gave his side the equaliser that pushed the Independence Cup final into a penalty shoot-out that they won against Dynamos. Yesterday at Luveve, it was the same story as Mukambi struck in the final minute of the five minutes of time added on, to give Chicken Inn an unlikely point.
It meant that, for the second straight league match, FC Platinum had squandered a two-goal lead and, while they lost against Hwange, they took a point from this match. Mutasa, without a doubt, will be concerned by all this. His side appeared on course for victory as they controlled this game and led 2-0, midway through the second half, after goals by Walter Musona, in the first half, and Donald “Dombo” Ngoma put the visitors in the driving seat.
With three minutes left in regulation time, Mukambi gave Chicken Inn hope and he completed the unlikely comeback deep in time added on.
