MUKWESHA INVESTS BACK HOME

GERMANY-based entrepreneur and mbira player, Virginia Mukwesha, has decided to invest back home as a way of empowering her fellow citizens.

Virginia, the daughter of the late Mbuya Stella Chiweshe and the late football legend Freddy Mukwesha, said the time has come for her to take part in the development of her country.

In an interview with H-Metro, Virginia, who recently opened a grocery shop in Harare and a food and cultural café in Goromonzi, said Zimbabwe will always have a special place in her heart.

“I’m back in the country on vacation but, during my stay, I have decided to empower my own people back home.

“Of course, I have a better-paying job in Germany but it would be meaningless if I don’t empower fellow Zimbabweans.

“I realised I had a role to play when I came to bury my mother early this year.

“The plight of single mothers touched me when I spoke to them and I felt compelled to assist them,” she said.

Virginia, who operates her business at Raylton Sports Club, said she has fond memories of the place.

“This complex is a bit special to me because that is where my father used to train and drink as a CAPS United coach.

“I also wedded at this venue and when I got an opportunity to start a business here, I grabbed it with both hands.”
