FOOTBALL coach Morris Mukwiti says he has quit his job at Central Region Division One side Amazon FC owing to non-payment of his salary.

The coach who is now back in Bulawayo says he had no choice but to ditch the club as he was struggling to make ends meet financially.

“I joined the club at the beginning of the season as head coach. The team had been promoted from the lower division. I signed a two-year contract with them. They only paid my February and March salaries.  At first, the club provided food and paid rent for both the technical team and players but that has now been ceased,” said Mukwiti.

He says he is not the only one to have deserted the club this season.

“The team manager left and the assistant coach has also left the club. I was now incapacitated to continue working. The owner failed to fulfill his contractual obligations despite getting financial assistance from the Sun Yet Sen Business community,  Tshelanyemba Business community and Gatsani small-scale miners who also helped the club financially,” said Mukwiti. -@innocentskizoe
