Masvingo City Council is considering constructing a recreational park in honour of its twinning agreement with the city of Kernen in Germany, an official has said.

Housing and Community Services Director Mr Levison Nzura said the new facility will be known as Masvingo-Kernen Park.

He said so far Kernen City had constructed its own Kernen-Masvingo Park in honour of the symbiotic cultural twinning arrangement with Masvingo.

“This project is contained our strategic development plan,” said Mr Nzura.

“Our sister city has since built their own park in respect of the twinning agreement.

“It is, therefore, our plan as a city to come up with our own recreational park as tribute to the Kernen City, which has shown political will to continue working with Masvingo through sponsorship of key community development projects.

“The 1990 twinning arrangement between the two cities has helped accelerate development in Masvingo through resources mobilised by the city of Kernen”.

Mr Nzura said some of the projects which came through their twinning agreement are the construction of a maternity wing at Runyararo Clinic and the provision of a loan facilities to Masvingo communities through Zambuko Trust.

He said other projects were the donation of an ambulance to the city, infrastructural development at Mucheke Old People’s Home and the Alpha Cottages.
