Munetsi, an early bird at Wolves pre-season camp

ZIMBABWEAN midfielder Marshall Munetsi and Emmanuel Agbadou feature in the latest episode of Wolves Express as Vitor Pereira’s squad begin to return to Compton for pre-season training.

Munetsi was part of the first batch of first-team players back after their summer break, and with those who were part of their internationals teams in June set to join them later this week in the warm weather training camp in Portugal, including Agbadou, preparations for the new campaign are beginning to ramp up.

But the latest episode of the club’s official quickfire podcast starts with a tribute to former Wolves forward Diogo Jota who passed away alongside his brother Andre Silva in the early hours of last Thursday morning.

Jota was a much-loved member of the Wolves squad during his three seasons at Molineux from 2017 to 2020, and Matt Wild, Wolves’ director of football operations & administration, pays tribute to a player who will go down as a modern Wolves legend for the role he played in bringing glory back to the club.

Wild shares his experiences of watching Jota on the pitch, as well his favourite memories of a man he worked with closely during the Portuguese’s time in gold and black, outlining why there has been such an outpouring of love following his tragic passing.

Ahead of his return to 2025/26 pre-season training, Agbadou has spoke about his first six months at Wolves and how it felt coming into a relegation-threatened club half way through the year, the impact he had on the team and how it felt to live his dream of playing in the English top-flight.

The Ivorian international is one of several Old Gold players being given an extra time to return to training having represented their countries this summer and he outlined what he wants to achieve from his first pre-season in gold and black.

Having been rested by his country for their summer friendlies, Zimbabwe vice-captain Munetsi was one of the first back through the Compton Park doors this week, but Agbadou’s fellow January signing from Reims has also reflected on his first half season at Wolves.

Munetsi also looks ahead to the new campaign, having time to work with Periera and the coaching staff over the coming weeks before the season begins and how the team can learn from what they went through last season to not experience that again in 2025/26. — wolves.co.uk
