Munetsi’s side held

Zimbabwe international midfielder, Marshal Munetsi started for Stade de Reims away to Toulouse in the French Ligue 1 yesterday.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Reims went into the match at the back of a 1-3 loss at home to Monaco and needed victory to keep up with the leaders.

Munetsi has featured in every one of the team’s nine Ligue 1 games in 2023/2024 and accumulated 735 minutes of playing time, starting in eight of these and being used as a substitute on one occasion.

The midfielder ranks second for assists this Ligue 1 campaign having assisted three goals for his team-mates. In addition, he has netted two goals – making him also tied as the team’s second-top league scorer. He has been shown a yellow card once.

It was versus Olympique Lyonnais on October 1 when Munetsi last scored, netting in a 2-0 win. His opening goal of the campaign came in the 2-0 victory against Clermont on August 20.

Last season for Reims, Munetsi made 34 Ligue 1 appearances, scored seven goals and provided three assists.

Before moving to Reims in July 2019, Munetsi made 28 league appearances in total at Orlando Pirates.

Munetsi debuted in a Ligue 1 fixture for Reims on September 1, 2019 as a substitute against Lille aged 23 years and 71 days. In his Ligue 1 career overall, he has appeared 111 times in the competition, with 15 goals scored and nine assists.
