HEaS the king of the league in waiting!

Morgan Mungombe is the star of the show at the less fancied Zifa Southern Region Division One League playing for Hwange-based outfit Makomo.

Every coach must make mention of him to his defenders during team talk because he has scored more goals than any other player in the league.

With nine under his name, he is determined to score more and eventually win the golden boot and recognition in the premier league. But in the goal tally thereas Tendai Zaza from Black Boot breathing down his neck with eight goals.

Whatas interesting is that he scored eight of his goals playing for Chiwororo FC before switching sides after the transfer window. At Makomo, after three starts he has one goal.

He left Chiwororo FC because of money.

a?I had a good time at Chiwororo but l didnat get enough money to fend for my family. Thatas why l left,a? said Mungombe.

Following the money meant joining a team with more competition for starting places.

a?There are about 30 players competing for jerseys. Itas not easy I have to work hard,a? he added.

Mungombe is well known in the premier league but for a different reason. He was a hard tackling defender for numerous sides.

a?Most of my football career I have been playing as a defender for premier league outfits such as Mwana Africa FC, Monomutapa United and Chicken Inn FC. I only became a striker in 2015 when l was offloaded by Chicken Inn and joined Chiwororo,a? said the 29 year old.

At his age he knows there are a few years left. As such, he eyes a future in mining.
