MUNHUMUTAPA Cup has brought joy to many of the lower league teams and fans in the country.

The tournament, run under Zifa and regarded as one of the most funded football cups in Africa, has since started in the different provinces.

On Sunday, St Erics High School in Norton will be a hive of activity when Mashonaland West Zifa Division Two Province League side Norton Big Boys and Norton Community clash in a high-profile knock-out match.

The game, pitting the old nemeses, is expected to draw huge crowds in the farming community town which is improving in terms of football development.

Norton boasts of Premier League side MWOS and several teams in the lower leagues but it will be the battle between Norton Big Boys and Norton Community that will turn heads at the weekend.

Norton Big Boys coach Marvellous Gutuza believes that the big name associated with their opponents will not play a major role in this battle.

“Playing a derby is always a challenge but we are ready as a team, we look forward to progressing in this lucrative Munhumutapa Challenge Cup,” he said.

“We have so much respect for our opponents but on the pitch, we look forward to a positive result.

“They have played in Division One but that will not deter us as we are prepared.”

Norton Big Boys boasts of former Premier League players like Rodrick Mutuma, Oscar Machapa, Evans Gwekwerere, Tafadzwa Rusike, Takesure Chinyama, Luckson Kaisa among several others.
