Businessman Shingi Munyeza’s Vinal Investments has clinched a franchising deal with Simply Asia, a Thai fusion cuisine which is going to address the growing demand for Asian cuisine. The group is targeting to open two outlets under the brand before year end in Avondale and Sam Levy’s Village. In an interview, Mr Munyeza said the desire is to consolidate the cuisine dining market under the international brand.

“There has been steady demand for quality, good dining demand in the country and we believe we will satisfy that in the short term,” he said.

Mr Munyeza said after opening the initial two in Harare, another outlet will be opened in Victoria Falls.

He said the cuisine outlets will compete with the Chinese restaurants although Simply Asia is generally upmarket.

Last year, Vinal Investments acquired the Mugg & Bean franchise for the specialised coffee shops from South Africa’s Famous Brands.

The first outlet was opened in the same year in November and more than 5 outlets have been opened since then.

Mr Munyeza said Ocean Basket and another News Café will be opened before year end at Avondale and Fife Avenue Shopping Complex respectively.

In addition to that, Ocean basket will also open in Victoria Falls and a Moyo restaurant which is Afro Centric in the same town. – Wires.
