FOOTBALL administrator, Wellington Mpandare, lost almost US$5 000 to two Harare men he entrusted with fixing his car.

Nathan Mudzonga and Nathaniel Torani were released on US$100 bail each when they appeared in a Harare court yesterday.

The court heard that they allegedly stripped Mpandare’s vehicle to a shell and sold its parts for personal profit.

Mudzonga was reported to have approached Mpandare in August 2017, offering to sell him an engine for his BMW, which he claimed was in a better condition than the one which was on his vehicle.

Mpandare paid a US$500 deposit and an additional US$700 for the parts required to fix the engine.

He then gave Mudzonga the BMW 525 so that he could fix the engine he had sold him.

Mudzonga allegedly connived with Torani and stripped the vehicle and sold the parts.

When Mpandare demanded his vehicle, the two gave him false promises until he reported the matter to the police.

The shell of the car was recovered and is being held as evidence.

The car is valued at US$4 700.
