POPULAR and fast-rising comedian Mupengo Roby will this week release a 30-minute skit titled “End of Year Class”.
The skit, according to the comedian, is his new year gift for his fans.
“End of Year Class” is a collection of different video clips that were interwoven into a rib-cracking storyline.
Featured in the skit are politicians, religious leaders, actors and socialites, among other prominent characters.
Roby, born Robson Mabhuku, said the aim of the skit is to bring smiles and laughter to his ever-increasing legion of fans.
“The year 2022 was not an easy one. We were haunted by the coronavirus. The skit will surely erase the sad memories related to the Covid-19 pandemic,” the 20-year-old comedian said.
Roby, who marked his debut in November 2021, has already made up his mind to take up comedy as a career.
“I made this decision last year. My bread and butter will come from these comedy skits,” said Roby, who maintains a visible social media presence.
With an increasing fan base, Roby’s popularity has brought with it a change in financial fortunes.
“The advertisers are coming in. I cannot complain. The support from the advertisers is pushing me to work very hard,” he said.
He urged other upcoming artistes to monetise their trades.
“Gone are the days when actors used to perform just to please audiences. I urge other artistes to take their trades seriously and earn a decent living out of them,” added Roby.
