The police however, suspect the house was struck by lightning or that a storm blew the roofing sheets off.
In an interview at his rural home in Uzumba, Muponda was adamant he was either petrol-bombed or the attackers used an unknown object to harm his family.
The incident – which occurred on Tuesday – damaged asbestos roofing sheets and windowpanes and Muponda said the damaged property is worth US$200.
No one was injured in the incident.
However, Mutawatawa Police officers who attended the scene denied the claims saying they suspected that the house was struck by lightning.
A policeman, who refused to be named, said investigations carried out did not point to petrol-bombing as there was no evidence.
A recent visit to the homestead revealed that the four asbestos sheets could have been blown away by wind.
Villagers also reported that there were strong winds that preceded a hailstorm.
Muponda however, said he would not dismiss the police and other villagers’ opinions.
“That is their own opinions and I cannot control them, but I believe there is someone out there trying to harm my family,” he said.
Muponda is not new to controversy after he claimed as a “prophet” to assist people to conceive.
He was later arrested on allegations of sodomy.
Muponda, who was operating in Norton, later resurfaced in Uzumba claiming to be a traditional healer.
