Mutare-based musician Jusa Mupostori said he will be relocating to Harare by the end of this month. The musician who had stolen the hearts of many in Manicaland said he had no option because of the limited bookings for shows he gets in the Eastern Border City.“It is becoming difficult for me to get a lot of shows in the Mutare and you find that I may perform only once the whole weekend,” he said.
He added that it may affect his career as he will get limited space to market his stuff. “If you are a musician you have to market your music through live performances,” lamented Mupostori.
Mutare harbours musicians such as Hosiah Chipanga and Blessing Shumba.
Chipanga relocated to Chitungwiza at the peak of his career and retraced his steps when things got hard for his band.
However Shumba said he was satisfied with his base in Mutare because there is less competition. Mupostori said lack of live performances was the reason his recent projects failed to make waves.
In the past the musician made waves with songs such as “Zvinhu Zvacho” and “Handina Mari”.
Since he assembled live band last year he has not yet made a single show in the capital. “I once got time to perform at the City Sports Bar in the capital but I failed to make it and my last show was at the Police Funfair in Harare,” he said.
He has been working with different artists in Mutare.
“My relationship with other artistes here is well and I have shared stage with all of them but I just feel I have to move to the capital where I might try some adventures,” he said.
