FORMER Warriors goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro has tipped Zimbabwe to meet Nigeria in the final of the on-going Chan tournament.
His prediction stems from the hearty performances by the local based national team players in South Africa. The national team has suddenly made headlines in the Southern Africa region where they are now the only team left in the competition.
South Africa and Mozambique were beaten in the preliminary rounds leaving Zimbabwe as the only team from Cosafa.
Murambadoro believes the Warriors have a good chance of making it to the final by beating Libya at the semi-final stage tomorrow.
Murambadoro, who signed a two-year contract with Absa Premier Soccer League outfits Mpumalanga Black Aces at the beginning of the season said:
“The crop of players who are taking part in the Chan tournament are just magnificent. Surely they deserve to go back home as champions after sterling performances in all their games so far. At the moment they have conceded only one goal against Mali which was on Saturday night.”
The former national team goalie advised the Warriors not to get carried away with previous results. Tomorrow when they clash with Libya he said it would be do-or-die.
He said they should avoid conceding fouls in dangerous positions. Murambadoro predicted that the final would pit Nigeria and the Warriors.
