Dynamos legend Murape Murape has defended the recent appointment of Ronald “Gidiza” Sibanda as team manager at the club.

Gidiza’s appointment has seemingly stirred controversy amid reports that some former players were not happy with the development.

However, Murape has come out in support of Gidiza and dismissed the divisive claims.

He described Gidiza’s appointment as a good move for the club.

“He is a former player and had stints with the Zimbabwe national team,” Murape said.

“Any claims that former Dynamos players are unhappy with Gidiza’s appointment are false. We have an old boys’ group that includes the majority of former players, and Gidiza is part of it. Everyone was congratulating him on his appointment.”

Murape expressed his disappointment with the media and bloggers who he believes are sowing seeds of hate among football stakeholders.

“As former players, we know what we want and what is good for us,” he said.

“We can’t compare Gidiza with his predecessor at Dynamos, and that alone is a reason to rejoice for all Dynamos faithfuls.

“The big message is that we are one people, and we can’t fight each other as we are all Zimbabweans. We should stop tribal divisions and work together.”

Murape emphasised that the club has a history of accommodating players and staff from diverse back-grounds.

“There is nothing new about Gidiza coming in,” he said.

“We should embrace working with everyone, regardless of their background. People should stop doing things for the sake of football likes and instead focus on building our football community.

“I even demonstrated that during my days at Real Betis, you know who my assistants were.”

Dynamos, who have seen an exodus of players ahead of the new season, have also been announcing their new signings.

Their newest unveiling is Ghanaian striker Agyemang Frank. The 21-year-old arrived at Dynamos from Kairos FC, joining the list of Clive Mandivei, Learnmore Muyambo, Tellmore Pio, Farai Mutatu, and Leeroy Mavhunga.

Youngster Tapiwa Masango was elevated from the Dynamos developmental side.
