TRAFFIC police officer, Sergeant Portia Dzanwa, who was shot dead by her husband, is set to be buried at her rural home in Chihota tomorrow, after the Dzanwa and Dombodzvuku families reportedly spent 26 days unable to agree on the burial arrangements.
Police officers were among mourners gathered at a local funeral parlour, where Sergeant Dzanwa’s children – aged 16, 13, 12 and 3 – were present.
Mourners were reportedly not granted permission to view the deceased’s body, with the reasons linked to the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The body was taken to Southlea Park before being transported to Gotora village in Chihota.
Sergeant Dzanwa was killed by her husband and former Special Police Constabulary officer, Pharaoh Dombodzvuku (52), before he allegedly turned the firearm on himself.
Dombodzvuku has since been arrested and remanded in custody.
The incident occurred in a parked vehicle in Southlea Park.
Dombodzvuku is alleged to have sexually abused the deceased’s daughter, a matter the teenager later disclosed to her mother.
According to reports, the couple visited Dombodzvuku’s brother, Trymore Dombodzvuku, for counselling.
During the session, Dombodzvuku requested privacy and sent his brother away for “some minutes”.
Within that time, Trymore reportedly heard two gunshots.
He rushed to the vehicle and found Sergeant Dzanwa already dead, while Dombodzvuku was unconscious inside the parked car.
A CZ pistol, with a magazine containing 12 rounds, was found on Dombodzvuku’s lap.
