Pupils and teachers have been urged to embrace the new curriculum, which is designed to meet the industrial expectations of the country, Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs David Musabayana has said.
Speaking during First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa’s interface with pupils at Murehwa High School yesterday, Minister Musabayana applauded the Government for addressing the needs of industry.
“Educational institutions used to produce half-baked students who were not competitive on the job market, but with the new curriculum, gone are those days.
“Pupils and teachers should welcome this new curriculum as it will produce competitive graduates,” he said.
He said the curriculum brings about the re-engagement process where pupils would know what is expected of them in the industries.
“This curriculum will surely put an end to unemployment in our country, our graduates would be employable, all that the pupil needs to do is to focus and shun indiscipline,” he said.
He commended the First Lady for the learner engagement programme saying the initiative will help her to have hands-on experiences on the challenges faced by pupils in Zimbabwe.
“As a province we know that these pupils’ challenges will be addressed because our mother is a listening mother, we thank you your Excellency for this programme,” he said.
