Musavengana threatens legal action against Zifa

demanding his terminal benefits from the football controlling body.
Musavengana wrote to Zifa president Cuthbert Dube early this month advising the association to settle his dues or risk being taken to court. He claims that he resigned from Zifa.

“I submitted my resignation letter from my employment as Zifa Competitions/Programmes Manager to your office in April and as such expected to receive both my terminal benefits and outstanding salaries as specified in my letter.
“However, my numerous visits to your office since then have yielded no positive results despite the fact that you always assured me that I would receive the dues.

“It is against this background that I write this letter to your good office to address this issue urgently.
“Please note that according to the Labour Act, it is a criminal offence to withhold an employee’s terminal benefits let alone salaries.
“I will therefore appreciate it if I receive your confirmation commitment to settle the dues at the shortest possible time.

“If I do not hear from you within seven working days, I will be left with no choice but to instruct my representing legal practitioners to approach the Labour chambers without further communication with your office.
“I hope and believe you will not force me to take this embarrassing route,” wrote Musavengana.

Musavengana was suspended together with former chief executive Henrietta Rushwaya, who later fired, and communications manager Harry Taruva.
Some of the reasons which led to the suspension of the programmes officer were that he:
“(a) Travelled to Asia with the Zimbabwe national soccer team in flagrant defiance of a Zifa Assembly and board resolution not to travel. This was done without clearance from the Sports and Recreation Commission.
(b) Interfered and continue to interfere with investigations into the Asia trip.”

Zifa is battling to conclude their investigations onto the Asiagate scandal.
