Mushekwi for Germany

Mushekwi was last night scheduled to leave for Germany to try his luck at Nuremberg and possibly become the second Zimbabwean striker in the Bundesliga.
Warriors talisman Knowledge Musona is already playing in Germany having moved from another South African Premiership side, Kaizer Chiefs to TSG Hoffenheim last season.
Musona was later loaned out by Hoffenheim.
Now Mushekwi, who has emerged as the lead striker at Sundowns and pushing Bafana Bafana forward Katlego Mphela into the shade has a chance to impress in Germany and take his talents to the big European stage.
Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed yesterday that the former CAPS United striker who started his sporting career as a basketball star confirmed that their player had been offered a trial stint in Germany.
Mushekwi, who has also been linked to German Second Division side Greuther Furth, is expected to be away for at least three days.
“Nyasha has been allowed to go for trials, the team is Nuremberg,” Sundowns spokesperson Kabelo Mosito told Kick-off.com yesterday.
Sundowns coach Johaan Neeskens also reportedly told South African radio late yesterday that they had released Mushekwi to go and try his luck at Nuremberg.
The bustling striker will be the first of two South African based Warriors internationals to fly out to Europe this week with Ajax Cape Town winger Tafadzwa Rusike expected to leave for trials at Belgian to-fight side OH Lueven tomorrow.
Rusike will leave for a weeklong trial stint in Belgium where he is expected to be accompanied by his manager Edzai Kasinauyo.
Kasinauyo in confirming the trip said he was optimistic that Rusike would make the grade in Belgium and join his countrymen — Vusa Nyoni, Honour Gombami and Cephas Chimedza — who are already plying their trade in that country.
“It is a good opportunity for him which he must grab with both hands. It is a chance for him to go and see how they do their football business in Europe and also showcase his talent in order to get a del.
“If he doesn’t make it I believe this would have still given him a chance to pick a few lessons that will help him with his game which has been improving with each outing but I am confident he will do well because he has the potential.
“He will watch the team in action on Saturday night because they have a match there and then he will start his trials on Sunday or Monday,’’ Kasinauyo said. But it is Mushekwi for whom much of the spotlight will fall for the next three days as he tries to make his dream of playing in the big European stage come true.
There were indications too that FC Nuremberg had been tracking the player and had earlier even tabled a R8 million offer for the 24-year-old striker, a claim which the Sundowns management, however, refuted.
It is also thought that Mushekwi’s trial stint is a three-day programme because of the fact that the big striker will spend more of his time in Germany having talks on a possible deal with the Nuremberg management and discussing personal terms.
l Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung was arrested after a swoop by the Hawks in Johannesburg yesterday.
Although details were remained sketchy, Motaung stands accused of forgery and fraud in relation to his role in the construction of the Mbombela Stadium ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
The details of the case against him have yet to be made public.
The construction of the venue was fraught with controversy from the start and was the likely cause of at least one death, though this has yet to be been proven in a court of law.
Mbombela municipality speaker Jimmy Mohlala, who blew the whistle on alleged corruption in a 2010 construction project, was shot dead in his Nelspruit house in 2009.
Mohlala had blown the whistle on Mbombela municipal manager Jacob Dladla, who was accused of manipulating 2010 construction contracts.
Mohlala was also already investigating a fraud case involving a company belonging to Motaung that was responsible for the construction of the Mbombela Stadium.
