ZIMBABWE international striker Nyasha Mushekwi scored on his debut in the Belgian Jupiler League when he found the target for his new club KV Oostende on Sunday.According to the club’s official website, the powerful Zimbabwe international forward scored in the 24th minute to cancel out Jens Naessens’ goal for rivals Zulte Waregem.
Naessen gave his team the lead in the eighth minute before the former CAPS United forward evened the scores as his team rescued a point at home.
Mushekwi’s agent, Ralph Nkomo, said he was happy that his man had opened his account in Belgium.
“Immediately after the game, the president of KV Oostende called me to convey the news,” Nkomo told KickOff.com.
“As his agent I am relieved because this is a good start to his career in Europe. They were playing against a team that is in the Champions League and it is good for him to make such an impact.”
The 25-year-old joined Oostende on a one-year loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns with an option of a permanent move next season, depending on his performance.
Mushekwi’s former team-mate at CAPS United, Tafadzwa Rusike, remains unsettled and is now club-hunting at Moroka Swallows.
Rusike, whose contract was not renewed by Ajax Cape Town at the end of last season after three years at Ikamva, is hoping to impress ahead of the close of the transfer window on Friday.
“He is a good player and is one of the options that we are looking at,
“Remember for us it is about signing the right player and not just anybody. We will make a decision in the next few days,” Zeca Marques the Moroka Swallows coach told Kick Off.
Rusike was recently training with Dynamos back home where he was even offered a contract.
