PIRATE taxi drivers have been ripping off commuters since Friday night.
Every shuttle in Harare is now being charged US$1.
Normally, it costs 50 US cents.
The mushikashika drivers are claiming that they don’t have coins for change.
Commuters are now appealing to the authorities for help as they wait for the circulation of ZiG notes.
“Mushikashika drivers are skinning us alive as they are taking advantage of the unavailability of coins on short distances.
“Hanzi fambai muri vaviri vaviri usasiye mudzimai kana murume wako kumba ndiko kuti dollar rako rishande.
“We are appealing to monetary authorities to address our dilemma.
“I do not have enough money for transport until the end of the month when the new currency is expected to circulate,” said one of the commuters.
