SWEENEY Mushonga says he wants to push the Northern Region Soccer League into a new era of commercial growth, transparency and sound governance.
He is bidding to become the NRSL chairman.
His bid gained full traction after the Ethics Committee cleared his papers, a moment he says reflects his drive to bring integrity, transparency and real direction,
He is running on a message of renewal backed by years of work inside football structures.
He believes the league is ready to grow its business value and raise its sporting standards, and he sees himself as the one who can make that shift happen.
His manifesto leans on four pillars that he says will define his leadership.
These include financial revitalisation, sporting excellence and proper talent pathways, stronger governance and empowerment, plus a deeper connection with fans and communities.
He laid out his priorities in clear terms.
“To aggressively grow revenue through new sponsorships, broadcasting agreements, and strategic partnerships. To elevate on field competition while formally collaborating with scouts and agencies to identify and place promising players with professional clubs.
“To provide direct support to clubs through administrative training, structured licensing, and unwavering ethical standards. To prioritise enhanced fan engagement and deepen the league’s community ties.”
Mushonga said he plans to operate through collaboration and collective leadership.
“I will soon unite with like-minded, experienced colleagues who have offered to serve on the incoming board,” he said.
His campaign leans heavily on work that has already earned him recognition inside the league.
He played a part in expanding the NRSL’s media visibility, setting up monthly awards and securing sponsorship support across different seasons.
His team believes these milestones show that he has the grounding and temperament to take the league forward.
