Leading the pack would be none other than the likes of Alick Macheso, Tongai Moyo, Suluman Chimbetu, Pastor Charles Charamba and his wife Olivia, Baba Machanic Manyeruke, Cde Chinx and Sniper who will share the stage with various other artistes during the all-night fete.
What makes the gala remarkable is that it will be one of those rare occasions when a national event of such a magnitude comes to Mashonaland Central Province after similar ones were previously held in places like Harare.
It would also be befitting for the province to host the Heroes Gala considering that the area was also one of the hottest battlefields during the war for liberation.
And what a way of commemorating the sacrifices made by the gallant sons and daughters of the struggle, except through song and dance, which were another potent weapon of furthering the struggle for Independence.
One of the headliners of the gala, Pastor Charles Charamba, promised fireworks at the event, saying his fans knew what they should expect from the Fishers of Men.
“They know what to expect from us. But the most important thing is that music is bringing us together as a nation in observing this historic day on our national calendar.
“It is imperative that we remember the sons and daughters of the soil who fought for this country’s liberation,” Charamba said.
His combination with his wife is a match made in heaven and they are expected to belt out some of their crowd favourites.
Pastor Charamba himself has a song, “Zimbabwe” that chimes with the event and in it, he reminds people about how the freedom that we enjoy today came about as a sacrifice of these heroes.
Amai Charamba, on the other hand, is renowned for her hits like “Africa” that speaks about the importance of remembering one’s roots.
Macheso needs no introduction and is without doubt going to send the crowd into a frenzy when he belts out his catalogue of hit songs.
He will use the same platform to play songs off his latest album that carries the crowd favourites, “Chimoko Changu” and “Tafadzwa” named after his second wife.
Sulu or “Mwana Wedangwe” son to the late provincial hero, Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu, will rekindle his father’s spirit when he plays some of the songs by the late dendera legend like “Ndarangarira Gamba”, “Pane Asipo” among others that are in tandem with the Heroes Gala.
He, however, has his own songs that are sure-fire hits.
Cde Chinx has become another permanent feature at the national galas and he is not going to disappoint.
Dancehall lovers will be in for a treat as Sniper of the “One Room” fame will be out in full force to rock the Mashonalnd Central folk.
