Renowned musician Vuyo “Adoe” Dube claimed victory in the electrifying Mr Sinkwa Ultimate Jingle Challenge and took home US$1 000 in prize money.
Bulawayo bakery, Mr Sinkwa, initiated the challenge in March, tasking competitors to create a unique beat and song.
Adoe’s incredible composition and beat received the most votes among the extensive pool of talented artistes, cementing his place as a rising star in the music industry.
In an interview, Adoe expressed his gratitude for the win and thanked Mr Sinkwa for supporting artistes.
He said the striking cash prize and supporters pushed him to participate in the contest.
“Thank you so much Mr Sinkwa for giving us this opportunity as artistes. What inspired me honestly was the cash prize that I saw on the poster. I believed that winning it would change my life. Also, some people encouraged me to participate, and I listened. I couldn’t believe it when I won. I am grateful to people who supported me by voting for my jingle,” he said.
Adoe collaborated with Beke Ncube of Dab Three Events to add a contemporary twist to imbube, their original sound. They aimed to create a catchy and relatable track for their fans.
“I remember composing the melody and sending it via WhatsApp, and in a day, he had produced a beat, and we started recording,” said Adoe.
This accomplishment has boosted Adoe’s confidence in his music and the impact it will have on his career. He plans to release a music video with the prize money and promote his new 12-track album Uhambo Lwami.
Adoe is determined to improve his music career and build a name for himself in the industry.
“This achievement makes me believe in myself and my craft. Now I know I’m in the right direction with the music that I make,” he declared.
