Musician plans to give away CDs

In an interview yesterday, Slay said he is in the country and is looking for a good studio so that he produces his CD.

He said the CD should be out in four to six months.

“I have decided to produce a free CD as a way of thanking my fellow Zimbabweans who have supported me in one way or another.

“I am back home with the aim of building a home-grown fan base and to prove that I have not forgotten where I come from and I want my music to fly the flag internationally,” said Slay.
Slay said he will begin working on his mainstream debut album next year.

The musician said his coming home would see the establishment of Regime Records Zimbabwe, which will offer international promotion, marketing and distribution in the same manner that Regime Records South Africa is doing.

In November last year, the hip-hop artiste was signed to Regime Records who have successfully secured an international distribution deal from Island Def Jam and The Company.

“The Company can get music mixed and mastered by Universal Music Group through Tunecore. I have featured on four extended play released CDs, Honour Life Volume 1 and 2, Shots & Summaries and Regime Radio Volume 1 which was released three weeks back and already has 2,9 million plays internationally,” said Slay.

He said he was a big name in South Africa with his music being played at that country’s 12 biggest radio stations.

“All the works have dominated plays on MySpace and boasted eight number one hits for their genre on Sundoclick.com. I am currently in talks with multi-million rand investors and sponsors such as Nike and anyone interested in sponsoring can contact me on [email protected],” said Slay.

Regime Records is an urban independent record label headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa.

The music they offer ranges from generic hip-hop and R&B all the way to dub step inspired club bangers and jazz-influenced ballads.
