KILLIAN Musiyiwa and Itai Motsi are the winners of the 2014 edition of the Mimosa Corporate Golf Day which was contested by 92 players that also saw the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mike Bimha finishing in joint position 24 at Roland Park Golf course in Zvishavane on Saturday. Bimha and his partner Ben Mashangu scored 38 points in a tournament that was played in a four-better ball format. A four-ball match is a match in which two sides, each consisting of two golfers, play each other using better-ball scoring. Each golfer in the match plays his or her own ball throughout – four balls in play.
Musiyiwa and Motsi garnered a better ball score of 44 with individual scores of 33 and 36 points respectively to walk away with the first prize of a generator.
“Mimosa have done us proud. It was the best corporate golf tourney witnessed in four years and Mimosa deserves a special ovation. The weather was against everyone. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves, we did enjoy ourselves,’’ said an ecstatic Motsi.
Mike Jumo and Stanley Kwangwari were second with a four-better ball score of 43 and they walked away with a 130-litre Kelvinator fridge.
For coming third with a score of 43, Nicholas Manjoro and Colleen Musundire bagged a Bush Baby two-gas burner.
The female duo of Nancy Dube and Ester Makoni were in fourth place with a four-better ball score of 43 and were duly rewarded with a garment steamer in a tournament in which almost all the participants walked away with prizes, mostly electrical gadgets.
Being an amateur tourney there was no prize money.
Among the high profile figures at the tourney were Mimosa Mine executive chairman Winston Chitando, who told the gathering that the tournament was an important event on the Mimosa calendar, FBC financial director, Trynos Kufazwineyi, and DSK director Worthwhile Mugabe.
The event also attracted amateur golfers and captains of industry from across the country.
FBC Bank, Cell Insurance, FC Platinum Holdings and DSK were the anchor sponsors at the well supported event.
