A RUWA businessman was gunned down in chilling fashion when a gang of seven masked robbers stormed his farm home in the dead of night.
The INCIDENT occurred at around 11PM on Sunday at a farm along Dustain Road, popularly known as Mutangadura Hideout. Joseph Mutangadura (67) died after being shot in the stomach during the violent raid.
According to a police statement, the suspects were armed with pistols, claw bars and hammers, and had their faces covered with balaclavas.
“They pounced at the business premises where they attacked the security guard who was securing the premises. They tied his hands with shoe laces and took him to the victim’s house, where they broke into the house through the door, using metal bars,” said national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
Inside, terror ensued as the ruthless gang forced the guard and the businessman’s son to lie flat in the dining room before storming the couple’s bedroom.
“The suspects shot the victim on the stomach and ransacked the house before leaving,” said Comm Nyathi.
Mutangadura and his wife were later rushed to Eden Hospital in Ruwa, where the businessman was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife survived but was left unconscious after the ordeal.
Police say the value of stolen property is yet to be established. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating cases of murder and robbery… more details will be released in due course,” read the statement.
Meanwhile, the hunt for the seven balaclava-clad killers continues.
