RELEGATION haunted Mutare City Rovers will know their fate today following the use of a suspended player during a league clash against championship contenders FC Platinum earlier this month.
The match in which suspended Kudakwashe Gurure played for 87 minutes ended 1-1, a result which favoured Mutare City Rovers, but it could return to haunt Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum for the two points lost rather than a point gained.
“We are issuing a statement tomorrow after both clubs were asked to give us reports on the incident,” said Premier Soccer League chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele.
Mutare City Rovers, who have 20 points on the league table, just one place above the drop zone, are seven points above 15th-placed Tsholotsho.
The PSL is likely to charge Mutare City Rovers under Order 36, section 1.4 which reads: “Use of an unregistered/ineligible player in a league match, three points will be deducted and thrown away and a fine as set by the league from time to time.”
FC Platinum will keep their single point gained from the match.
