MUTARE and Marymount teachers’ colleges dominated the just-ended ZITCOSA athletic and ball games respectively.
In an interview, ZITCOSA Zone A chairperson, Joshua Matume, hailed the performance by the two colleges.
“We had a good time with during these games. Most of all our Mutare colleges’ participants raised our flag high.
“In athletics, Mutare Teachers’ College had an exceptional performance. It scooped the highest number of medals, most of all the highest number of gold medallists,” said Matume.
The results for athletics had Mutare Teachers’ College on top with 18 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 17 bronze medals, while Mogenster Teachers’ College which had 14 gold medals, 19 silver medals and 10 bronze medals settled for second position.Masvingo Teachers’ College was third with 13 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.
Marymount was at the fourth position with 10 gold, seven silver and 12 bronze medals. Lastly, was Bondolfi Teachers’ College with eight gold medals, seven silver medals and nine bronze medals. Although they were overall fourth position, Marymount were the champions in almost all the ball games events.
The Zone A teams that were selected are now set for the ZITCOSA national finals to be held in Masvingo at Mogenster Teachers’ College in May. Marymount Teachers’ College principal, Petty Silitshena, urged the Zone A selected teams to gel as a unit as they prepare for the national finals.
“I would like urge our teams to unite and let us go to the national finals as one family,” said Silitshena.
