MUTARE United Juniors player Simbarashe Muchara’s life is on the line as he remains admitted at Parirentatwa Group of Hospitals Intensive Care Unit in Harare where doctors are yet to operate on the 17-year-old who was injured while in action for his team.
The Manica Post gathered that doctors have established that the youngster suffered a raptured liver and is still undergoing preliminary treatment that includes removal of clotted blood for him to go under the knife.
However, insufficient funds to foot the junior player’s medical bill has resulted in staff at Parirentatwa giving the player more blood on credit.
Renowned Scottland supporter Malvin Makarawu, who has gained popularity in Mutare football circles not only because of his support for Mabviravira but his passion for the game in general and its players, took it upon himself to lead a GoFundMe initiative to raise money for the young footballer.
The amount raised through the GoFundMe initiative as well as businessman and philanthropist Ruramai Nyakonga’s contribution added up to about US$1 200, it still falls far short of what is needed for the young players’ medical expenses.
In an interview from Harare, where she is accompanying her son, Simbarashe’s mother Agnes Muchara said: “Nothing much has changed in terms of his condition since we left Mutare. We do not have enough money to foot the medical bill as well as other needs that are required in taking care of Simba.”
