POLICE in Mutare have arrested three men in connection with a chilling murder that occurred in Dangamvura on May 6.
Brighton Kaisa (27), Oliver Kaisa (28) and Garikai Saungwena (50) are accused of assaulting a man they claimed stole vegetables from their garden.
The victim, Tarick Mamenomuno (23), died after allegedly being tied upside down to a mango tree with a cable.
The trio reportedly took turns in whipping him with a wire and an electric cable.
He died as a result.

Bulawayo man nabbed over bizarre break-ins
A Bulawayo man has been apprehended over a string of bizarre burglaries, including the theft of a cock from a fowl run.
Clement Donga (39) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube charged with five counts of unlawful entry and theft.
He pleaded not guilty, claiming he was not even in Insuza when the break-ins occurred.
In one of the late-night raids, the man is said to have stolen items that include blankets, belts and beans.
It is the State’s case that on February 11, Donga smashed a window at Pedzai Sibanda’s house and helped himself to a solar panel, trousers, belt, cap and US$30.
Barely two weeks later, on February 27, he allegedly struck again at Plot 113 Maraposa, breaking a door handle to steal a passport, packets of beans and various clothes.
On March 5, Donga is accused of using a sharp object to open a padlock at another home in Maraposa, where he stole a blanket.
Later that day, he reportedly smashed another window, took another blanket, trousers, groceries and US$50.
The following day, he allegedly returned to Sibanda’s home, sneaked through a broken window and stole a dish, then made his way to the fowl run and grabbed a cock — Bulawayo Bureau

Businessman accused of attacking ex-wife
A respected Bulawayo businessman allegedly attacked his former wife in front of their children, leaving the offspring traumatised and onlookers stunned.
The incident reportedly occurred around 1pm on March 22 when Nesbert Mapfumo (30) arrived at the home of his ex-spouse, Audrey Chiketa (35), under the pretext of visiting their children.
In her testimony at the Tredgold Building Magistrates’ Courts in Bulawayo, Chiketa said Mapfumo turned violent.
“He insulted my parents, so I walked away to avoid drama,” she said.
“But he chased me down like a mad dog. He hit me so hard I fell. Then he grabbed my hair and dragged me along the tarred road like a sack of potatoes. Our children saw everything — our youngest was screaming, ‘Daddy, stop!’”
Chiketa said she managed to break free by biting his hand, but not before she was battered.
“He does not pay maintenance. I had to take him to court to force him to support his own kids.
“Even after I got a protection order, he still came back like a man possessed,” Chiketa added.
However, Mapfumo, through his legal representative, denied the allegations, claiming she was fabricating the story to tarnish his image.
However, eyewitnesses claimed Mapfumo assaulted Chiketa.
Magistrate Beverly Madzikatire remanded the case to a later date. — B-Metro

Fort Rixon man ties, whips brother over late errand
A Fort Rixon man tied up his 14-year-old brother and severely whipped him for returning late from an errand.
Brandon Moyo (24) of Zimbili, Japan area, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Evelyn Madzikatire and was convicted on his own plea of guilty.
He was sentenced to 24 months in prison.
However, eight months were suspended, while the remaining 16 months were converted to 560 hours of community service at Zimbili Primary School.
The State proved that on March 30, 2025, Brandon became enraged when his younger brother returned home later than expected after their grandmother had sent him to borrow a shovel.
Brandon subsequently tied his brother’s hands with a shoelace and lashed him repeatedly all over his body with a rope and sjambok.
The beating only stopped when a concerned neighbour, hearing the boy’s cries, intervened.
The incident was reported to the police, leading to Brandon’s arrest.
“He beat me because I came back late . . . I could not find the shovel,” the young victim testified in court. — Bulawayo Bureau
