LLOYD Chitembwe’s search for stability at Triangle continues to drift further out of reach.
Yesterday brought another defeat, another missed opportunity and another difficult afternoon for a side still struggling to find their footing.
The 2-0 loss to MWOS at Gibbo stretched Chitembwe’s win-less run to five matches and added fresh pressure to a campaign that is beginning to raise uncomfortable questions.
The pattern since his arrival is also becoming harder to ignore. Chitembwe started with victories over AGAMA and Manica Diamonds on Matchdays Five and Eight, but those early signs of progress now feel distant. Since then Triangle have lost to FC Hunters, TelOne and Highlanders, drawn against Bulawayo Chiefs, suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Dynamos and now fallen again to MWOS.
Much of the talk before kick-off had centred on Chitembwe himself after speculation that he had stepped down following the Dynamos defeat before staying on after engagements with club leadership, who still believe he remains the right man for the job.
Yesterday did little to quieten that discussion.
MWOS came into the match without a win in their previous two outings, but Lloyd Mutasa’s side looked more composed and more decisive in key moments.
Triangle made the brighter start and created the better opportunities in the opening half. Their first clear chance arrived after 15 minutes when Stephen Zhogi released Emmanuel Paga, but the Ghanaian forward was denied by Tedious Baye in a one-on-one situation.
That miss proved costly.
MWOS struck in the 33rd minute after confusion inside the Triangle box.
David Mukuze rushed off his line and misjudged a situation after Godfrey Manase’s clever lob struck the crossbar, leaving Arthur Banda with the easiest of tasks as he rolled the ball into an empty net.
Meanwhile, Hunters and TelOne shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Heart yesterday.
