LLOYD Mutasa feels luck was not on his side as ambitious MWOS suffered a surprise 0-1 defeat at the hands of Come Again in a ZIFA Northern Region Division One match at Rimuka over the weekend.
A Charles Munyanyi’s seventh-minute goal settled the contest and condemned Mutasa’s men to a fifth defeat of the season.
The Dynamos legend guided Green Fuel into the top-flight league last season, but it appears he will not be able to repeat that feat with the Norton-based side.
To be fair to Mutasa, he did not start this campaign, which is important in terms of choosing the players one wants, to challenge for honours.
The MWOS leaders also appear to be more interested in seeing their team retain their place in the second-tier league this season and then challenge for the title next year.
That should give Mutasa more time to build a team good enough to play in the Premiership next season.
“A one-nil loss here at Rimuka Stadium is the official result but am very happy with what I saw from my charges and the way they conducted themselves,” said Mutasa.
“The odds were stacked against us from the first whistle and when one of my players was attached by the opponent in an-off-the ball incident, and the handling of the match, it all swayed the match in favour of the hosts.”
With four fixtures before the curtains come down, Black Mamba leads the pack with 66 points.
Come Again moved to 11th place on table with 37 points from 30 matches.
Assistant coach, Aaron Mbewe, has been leading the club in the absence of head coach Bigboy Mawiwi.
“We’ve been under pressure and badly needed a win after a string of poor results which had pushed us into the relegation zone but our worries have been relieved by this win,” he said.
