LLOYD Mutasa has promised fireworks in the Zvishavane Derby at Mandava on Saturday. FC Platinum were beaten in their last league match by Triangle while Shabanie were held to a surprise 1-1 draw by Monomotapa. “We lost our first league match to Shabanie Mine and again they beat us in the BancABC Sup8r Cup final,” said Mutasa. “We are not going to allow them to beat us for the third time.
“We are going to give them a good game and we want to please our fans.”
Mutasa said it was important for his players to remain focussed despite the setback of the loss in Chiredzi.
“I have been saying that the destiny of the league title race is not in our hands and all we want as an institution is to collect points and then see where we are going to be when the season ends,” said Mutasa.
“Mathematically we have a chance to win the league and I am just hoping that other teams will falter.
“I am urging our fans to come in numbers and give us maximum support like what they have been doing throughout the season. “I know that Luke (Masomere) is itching for a win but I just want to advise him that the clash on Saturday is going to be very tough.”
On Sunday Masomere was nearly assaulted by his team manager Sam “Dread” Gondwe, following a dismal show against Monoz, which led the coach to issue another threat that he will quit the club.
But sanity appears to have returned art the club.
“Masomere is our coach. We were pained to draw with a small team like Monomotapa and everyone was angry. We are looking at him to guide us on Saturday and I would love to see FC Platinum fall,” said Gondwe.
“We are rallying behind him and I will be happy if he guides the team into the top eight so that we defend our Cup next season.
“All what happened on Sunday is now water under the bridge and I am urging fans to come in numbers because we want to beat our rivals who hate us with a passion and show them that we are the kings.”
