FORMER CAPS United and Warriors winger Tafadzwa Rusike’s football career is still in limbo. His manager Edzai Kasinauyo yesterday said the player was holed up in South Africa and hoping for an opportunity to emerge during the January transfer window. “He is in South Africa for now and he has not yet secured a club. At the moment we are just waiting for the January period to open and see,” said Kasinauyo. After being deemed excess baggage by Ajax Cape Town, Rusike nearly landed a deal at Dynamos but the lure of playing in Europe, or returning to South Africa, proved irresistible.
The slot has since been filled by Simba Sithole, who was released by SuperSport United. Rusike joined Ajax Cape Town in 2010 and was part of a number of players who left CAPS United that same year to join South African clubs. Kasinauyo is hopeful that Rusike will secure a deal.
“Most of the clubs have closed their quotas for foreigners, so he cannot join any team in South Africa now.
“So as it stands, we have to wait for the window to open in January and that will be when teams consider opening that extra slot,” said Kasinauyo.
