MUTASA WEAVES HIS MAGIC

Bruce Chikuni

LLOYD Mutasa’s MWOS FC won the Battle of Mash West by beating Chegutu Pirates 2-0 in a ZIFA Northern Region Division One match at Ngoni Stadium on Saturday.

The match attracted a decent crowd and Dzinza, who are having a dream season, crashed to only their second loss this season.

It was Mutasa’s second victory on home soil in six attempts.

Livingston Genti and Cleopas Kapupurika secured all the points for the hosts.

Mutasa’s troops are now nine points behind leaders, Black Mambas.  Mambas edged a battling Banket United 1-0 to extend their unbeaten run to 19 games.

John “Toto” Ncube’s men have a three-point lead over Harare City.

Warumwa Warumwa have now accumulated 41 points.

City are within striking distance and kept their hopes alive by hammering the league’s punching bag, Concession United, 3-0.

Joseph “Shabba” Takaringofa and his men clearly mean business in their quest for a quick return to the PSL.

Given the challenges they are facing, with the club not honouring what they promised the players, City’s campaign has been impressive.

Arthur Tutani fell to his first defeat as Shamva Mine FC gaffer, after losing 0-1 to Karoi United, at Chikangwe.

This was his second game in charge after parting ways with Simba Bhora.

A heavyweight clash between Herentals Under-20 and Golden Eagles ended 1-1 at Motor Action Sports Club.  This leaves the Young Students trailing Warumwa Warumwa by seven points.

Gondo Harishaye remained 11 points off the mark after this stalemate.  Commando Bullets lost 0-3 at the hands of Trojan Stars.

The army side are now third from the bottom of the pile.
