The Politburo and Commissariat will not stand in the way of Manicaland province if they decide to expel or suspend disgruntled former Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration Didymus Mutasa for behaviour that is inconsistent with the revolutionary party’s principles, the party’s Political Commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere has said.

Addressing the Midlands Provincial Coordinating Committee members at the Zanu-PF Convention Centre in Gweru yesterday, Cde Kasukuwere said the Politburo and Commissariat will respect whatever decision that would be made by Manicaland province.

He said Cde Mutasa’s fate will be determined by Manicaland province’s decision.

“We hear that there’re letters that are being written to us from Manicaland with regards to Cde Mutasa’s issue. We hope they’ll do the right thing and we’ll not stand in their way. If we receive the letters that are said to have been written, the commissariat will quickly take action and the Politburo will endorse it,” he said.

Cde Kasukuwere also lambasted Cde Mutasa for threatening some senior party cadres with unspecified action.

“Cde Mutasa threatened that he’ll sort us out. How does he intend to do that? Nyati (referring to Mutasa) don’t start things that you can’t finish. Don’t start battles that you can’t fight. Musatange zvamusingagone (Don’t start what you aren’t capable of),” said Cde Kasukuwere.

“If you (Mutasa) want to take us head on we’re up for the challenge. He’ll retire in pieces. We discovered that Mutasa was manipulating party programmes such as Zim-Asset to gain political mileage. He would take every opportunity he gets to insult now Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa,” he said.

Cde Kasukuwere said Cde Mnangagwa was the rightful person for the post.

“We asked ourselves who the rightful candidate was. It was clear that he was the man who could fit in those shoes. Who else could it be? He’s dedicated, loyal, consistent and a man of undoubted credentials. Appointing Cde Mnangagwa was one of the best decisions the President has made. This man isn’t a tribalist,” he said.

Cde Kasukuwere said candidates interested in the vacant posts created following the appointment of former Vice President Joice Mujuru and the newly appointed Vice President Mnangagwa should submit their CVs.

“We want you to know that Chirumanzu-Zibagwe has been declared vacant after Vice President Mnangagwa was elevated. Interested candidates must submit their curriculum vitae now,” he said.

Cde Kasukuwere warned members of the party against embroiling and dragging VP Mnangagwa into their personal vendettas and abusing his name.

“If you differ in thinking and don’t get along well with fellow party members, please don’t drag Cde Mnangagwa into your fights,” he said.
