ZIMBABWE international striker Rodreck Mutuma is at South African Premiership side Moroka Swallows where he is set for an assessment over the next two weeks, starting from today.
He could return to the Absa Premiership early after he was offloaded by Bloemfontein Celtic during the January transfer window.
Mutuma had been signed by Dynamos on a one-year deal but could not play for the champions as there were problems with his papers and was only expected to be registered when the window opens next week.

However, the tall striker may not feature for the Glamour Boys if his management team inks a deal with the Johannesburg club.
Mutuma left for South Africa yesterday and his manager Edzai Kasinauyo, who was already in Johannesburg for a series of meetings with the club, said nothing has been concluded yet.

“He will train with them for 10 days and it is like an assessment and a closer look at him. He may get a deal as they are looking for a striker. He is an option for them,” said Kasinauyo.

The former Zimbabwe international, who has helped many players to get lucrative deals in South Africa, also shed light on defender Gilbert Mapemba who is set for an exit at Moroka Swallows after the club declined to renew his contract.

“We are still talking about Gilbert and we hope he would be able to stay. He has started training with them.
“Looking at their options of the foreign quota, they are looking for an attacking player but they still have space for foreigners and Gilbert has given them good service for the last three years.

“It is a decision they still have to make as they don’t have any foreigners who have committed and still can afford to bring some on board,” said Kasinauyo.
It hasn’t been looking good for Zimbabwean players plying their trade in South Africa after a number of them failed to have their contracts renewed and may have to look for pastures somewhere or return home and join the local clubs.

Veteran midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha has been released by Wits University together with defender Thomas Sweswe.
Nengomasha is now on trials at Mpumulanga Black Aces while Sweswe is back home.

Another Wits player Denver Mukamba is safe after he got a one-year extension on his contract.
At Kaizer Chiefs, Zhaimu Jambo is on his way out and this intent was made clear by the club when they signed another left back from Moroka Swallows.

The former Gunners captain’s career at Amakhosi has been hampered by injuries and his manager Kasinauyo said although he is still contracted to the club, they may be options for him to get game time.

“Zhaimu is still contracted with them and he is just coming from an injury and needs to get fit and get game time.
“The club will look at options whether he continues playing for them or look for the way forward,” he said.

While Jambo might be on the way out, another Chiefs player Mathew Rusike is staying put, according to Kasinauyo.
