DYNAMOS striker Rodreck Mutuma says they have to win the Chibuku Super Cup to show that they remain the big boys in domestic football. The league champions have only won once in their last eight competitive games and this cost coach David Mandigora his job.
The Glamour Boys were knocked out of the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup by Black Rhinos at Gwanzura last year, with Mutuma being sent off.
Now, they face Whawha and Mutuma feels it’s time they get back to winning ways.
“It is a tight match. Remember last year we were knocked out by Black Rhinos in the first round and in our last Cup match at the weekend we lost to Highlanders so we want to send a message to our supporters that we are still good,” said Mutuma.
“We will put two hundred percent in this game and everyone is ready for the game.
“It is difficult to play a small team in a Cup game and it is unlike playing Highlanders or any other big team, they put extra effort and, if we underrate them, they will boot us out.
“But we will fight for a win. We are ready and as players we want to win as many medals as we can during our playing days so that we will have something to show to our kids later. So we need to fight and get this trophy.
“This time Chibuku Super Cup is ours.”
Mutuma believes the Glamour Boys still can still win a fifth straight league title.
“We still have faith in the league as we are only three points behind, so we are still focused and we really know that nothing will come easily but we have to work hard,” he said.
“I am happy again and I am enjoying my game and I am sure everyone is happy as well. I am the real Prince and I have no pressure that I have played two league games and a Cup final and I am yet to score.
“I will score whether it is in the next match or whenever but what I know is history will repeat itself and usually water flows following the route it used in the past so I am not worried at all, the goals will come.”
The Harare giants also got a big boost this week with their star midfielder Ronald Chitiyo returned to training after recovering from injury.
Chitiyo last played in the 3-2 league victory against Highlanders in June where he scored a brace.
The team also welcomes back Elisha Muroyiwa who was injured and last featured in the league match against Hwange at home.
Veteran defender Ocean Mushure and Sydney Linyama are also back at training.
However, midfielder Masimba Mambare, who was injured on Sunday, will miss the tie against Whawha while defender Blessing Moyo is at the South African Premiership club Maritzburg for trials.
