GENIUS Mutungamiri struck a brace to hand Bulawayo City their sixth win of the season in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at Barbourfields Stadium, a victory over Yadah which saw Amakhosi continue with their fight for survival.

The win saw Amakhosi shift one position up to 15th on the log with 24 points.

Mutungamiri handed City the lead in the 42nd minute and doubled his team’s lead in the 69th minute.

Veteran forward, Obadiah Tarumbwa showed that he is not finished yet with a dazzling display in the 70 minutes he spent on the field of play.

Coach Farai Tawachera

Bulawayo City coach, Farai Tawachera, who has turned the team’s fortunes since he took over from Philani “Beefy” Ncube at the beginning of May felt that Yadah gave them a good game as they did not hold back.

“Good game, it was a difficult one, if you look at the pace at which both teams were going at each other, it was a very difficult game but thanks to the Almighty God, we got two goals today, we thank him for that, we start thinking about the future,’’ said Tawachera.

He indicated that they have been working hard to turn around their fortunes,  something he thinks they are doing well to achieve.

“We have been working hard to get some points, if you look at our performance, we’ve been doing very well, fine the results were not coming here and there but we had to bring this to a halt, this bad patch,’’ he said.

Genesis Mangombe, the Yadah coach had this to say after the defeat “In terms of goal margin, we can say we failed to defend our lines but it wasn’t poor display, we were having possession, first half we get to keep possession second half retaining possession as well but now our conversion rate and also our defending lines were very poor today.”

“I knew it was going to be a tricky game and I told my guys that to win this game we don’t need to concede any silly mistakes but it’s unfortunate it’s a game of football, at times you have to concede these mistakes, move on and correct in the next game,’’ added Mangombe.
