CHICKEN Inn forward, Brian Muza, has taken his game to new heights since making his PSL debut earlier this season.
He is the only player from the Gamecocks’ camp who made it onto the Castle Lager Soccer Stars of the Year list after scoring 11 goals.
The 25-year-old caught the attention of coach Joey Antipas, when he was playing for ZIFA Southern Region Division One League side, Talen Vision, last season.
His speed, trickery and good finishing ability got many people talking about him in the early stages of the season.
Muza played a crucial role in helping the Gamecocks secure the league’s silver medal, dislodging Dynamos in the process.
Before Muza, Antipas unleashed Tendai Ndoro, Mitchel Katsvairo, Edmore Chirambadare and Clive Augusto.
Muza endured mixed fortunes during the just-ended season.
His rich vein of form was affected by injuries he picked up after the restart of the season.
“I want to dedicate this achievement to my teammates for helping me cope with the pressure that comes with playing in the top-flight league,” said Muza.
“They made it easy for me.
“I think the experience in our camp helped me to adjust to PSL demands.
“I also want to thank coach Antipas for believing in me because this all could not have happened.
“I also want to thank God.”
Antipas said Muza’s recognition was well deserved.
“The boy played well all season. He was a joy to watch and from the time I first saw him up to this day, he has tremendously improved in many aspects.
“I’m happy for him, he deserved it, and those who didn’t make it will fight for a place next season.
“We have to respect and appreciate those who were selected,” said Antipas.
