FAST bowler, Blessing Muzarabani’s return to the Zimbabwe national cricket team is now about to happen after he was included in Takashinga’s squad for the National Premier League, which starts on Sunday.
Muzarabani’s name appears in the updated squad list for Takashinga sent out by Zimbabwe Cricket late on Saturday.
The 24-year old is expected to travel to Zimbabwe in the coming days to join the rest of the team in camp for the trip to Pakistan. Since he has been playing competitive cricket in England, there is no doubt that Muzarabani will be included in the final squad making the trip to Pakistan for a limited overs series.
Muzarabani is understood to have already signed a contract with ZC to officially return to international cricket. An announcement is anticipated in the not so distant future, with what both parties were waiting for being the end of the England domestic cricket season, which was meant to conclude on Saturday with the final of the Vitality Blast Twenty20, which has however gone to the reserve day on Sunday due to persistent rain.
The lanky pace bowler put his international cricket career on hold in August 2018 to take up a Kolpak contract with English county side, Northamptonshire. Under the Kolpak deal, Muzarabani could not represent Zimbabwe since he had to give up that right in terms of that arrangement.
With Britain close to exiting the European Union, Kolpak deals will be nullified by the end of this year, which is why Muzarabani has chosen to make a return to the international scene.
Takashinga updated squad: Roy Kaia (captain), Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Innocent Kaia, Regis Chakabva, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Timycen Maruma, Elton Chigumbura, Tafadzwa Tsiga, Tinashe Nenhunzi, Tanunurwa Makoni, Marshall Takodza, Tapiwa Mufudza, Brighton Chapungu, Richard Ngarava, Cuthbert Musoko, Trevor Mutsamba, Keith Jaure, Nigel Mupurira, Kudzai Maunze, Rodney Mupfudza, Shingi Masakadza, Joylord Gumbie, Daniel Zvidzai, Alvin Chiradza, Tanyaradzwa Kagumba, Tanyaradzwa Munyaradzi, Blessing Muzarabani
