Muzarabani named in T20 World Cup Team of the tourney

ZIMBABWE fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has been named in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament after delivering a series of outstanding performances during the global show-piece.

The towering paceman finished the competition with 13 wickets, placing him among the tournament’s leading wicket-takers and just one behind India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy, who topped the bowling charts with 14 wickets each.

Muzarabani played a central role in Zimbabwe’s impressive campaign, consistently troubling opposition batters with his pace, bounce and accuracy.

One of his stand-out performances came in Zimbabwe’s memorable group-stage victory over Australia, where he produced a match-winning spell of four wickets for 17 runs.

He finished the group stage with nine wickets and continued to impress during the Super Eight phase.

Along the way, Muzarabani joined the exclusive club of the 100-wicket club after extending his tally to 106, behind leading wicket taker Richard Ngarava (114) and Sikandar Raza (107).

His selection in the Team of the Tournament recognises both his individual excellence and Zimbabwe’s strong presence during the competition.

Compatriot Brian Bennett could not make the World Cup Team despite a brilliant outing for the Chevrons. Bennett was Zimbabwe’s leading scorer with left the stage with his head high after setting his own record.

The Team of the Tournament was selected by a panel comprising broadcasters Ian Bishop, Natalie Germanos and Eoin Morgan, alongside ICC representative Gaurav Saxena and sports journalist Rex Clementine.
