ONE of Zimbabwe’s most energetic entertainers, Tendai Chidarikire, suffered a major health scare and was rushed to hospital — sending shockwaves through the showbiz scene.
The talented performer, affectionately known as Sasa or Muzezuru, is currently admitted at Avenues Clinic after suffering a blood clot in his left leg — a condition doctors say had the potential of turning deadly.
“I am here at Avenues receiving treatment on my leg due to a blood clot. I am happy with the kind of help that I am receiving from doctors, friends, and family,” he said in a video.
From his hospital bed, Chidarikire opened up in an exclusive interview, revealing that the past few days have been nothing short of a personal nightmare.
“I have been admitted here in the private ward for the past three days and I am glad that I am making a lot of progress,” he said.
“My left leg has been giving me problems, and I think it all started after I sat in a long meeting for seven hours, which might have caused this problem.
Doctors diagnosed him with thrombosis — a serious medical condition where blood clots form and can travel through the body, potentially blocking vital organs like the lungs.
And that’s where the danger truly lies.
“Thrombosis is a complex condition that can affect other parts of the body if not detected and treated early,” he warned.
“It can spread and affect other parts of the body, like the lungs, if not well managed.
‘‘In my case, I am happy that I have managed to handle this medical condition.”
For a man, whose brand is built on movement, dance, and physical fitness, the diagnosis hit hard.
“I was also shocked by this condition that led to me being hospitalised, because people know me as a physical trainer who loves to dance.”
But even as he battles from a hospital bed, Muzezuru is refusing to let the scare dim his star power.
In a move that has left fans both inspired and puzzled, Chidarikire has already started teasing new music — recording and sharing a track titled Tese while still hooked to treatment.
“My management team is busy planning the launch of our upcoming album, and I have shared one of the songs called ‘Tese’ in my hospital bed.”
Talk about turning pain into performance.
“I am one person who loves to dance and sing, which gave me all this fame that I am enjoying today, and I am glad all will go according to plan.”
And to his loyal fans, he made a bold promise:
“I will come back stronger than ever.”
Meanwhile, social media has exploded with messages of support, with fans flooding his pages with prayers, love, and encouragement — a wave he says has helped him push through the scare.
“The amount of love exhibited by fans was awesome, and I am glad that their prayers have helped me a lot.
“It was also a marvel seeing this kind of feedback coming from all corners, and I am grateful for their support.”
